MFA eyes on strengthening cooperation between Thailand and Africa

BANGKOK, 8 July 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to advance collaboration with Africa sustainably and based on mutual interest due to its potential.

Mr. Chaisiri Anaman, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that Thai people need to adjust their attitudes towards Africa because it has developed in all aspects and has overcome all obstacles, including diseases, natural disaster, political instability and lack of infrastructure. He added that Africa has a great potential in political and economical respects in the seminar regarding Thailand and Africa: Opportunity, Friendship and Cooperation. The seminar aims to raise people awareness about Africa and fulfill the request of all sectors corresponding with inclusive diplomacy.

He stressed that Africa has a great number of populations especially people under 25 years old who could be a great impulsion to drive the economy. It is also an important emerging market to produce and sell goods. Moreover, there are plentiful natural resources such as gold, copper, gem, iron and zinc.

Mr. Bahar Idris Abu Garda, Sudan's Federal Minister of Health told the seminar that Thailand, a major country in Asia, is an economic and development partnership of African region. He also encourages Thai businessmen to discover Africa and invest especially in Sudan because Africa is a continent of potential and opportunities. Furthermore, he expected to collaborate with Thailand more in agricultural and public health sectors in exchanging skills due to Thailand’s proficience in these areas.

A good place to start would be Zimbabwe. The two governments have similar mindsets, and the two countries are both in decline.

Many good marriages have been based on the bride and groom having less in common.

Mr. Chaisiri Anaman, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that Thai people need to adjust their attitudes towards Africa - Bloody hell, that's an understatement; Thais, starting from the very top.have to adjust their attitudes towards anyone not Thai, full stop.

The desperation is escalating within the ranks of the astute military economic managers of Thailand.

First China, then Russia, then India and now all the tin-pot dictatorship countries in Africa are being targeted to try to get Thailand out of the deep economic pooh towards which they are headed.

Foreign investors have already fled Thailand to go to neighbouring countries realising the productivity and cost saving opportunities that await them.

I wonder if Mr. Chaisiri Anaman knows who is the President of Africa.

With Africa being a continent could you please provide the answer so we all know.

I think you'll find our friend has been experimenting with irony.

I did wonder why Thailand feels it is able to negotiate with a whole continent, and not a united content like Europe (giggle.gif). Just checked and there are 54 countries in Africa, is Thailand sitting at a very bog table addressing them all? gigglem.gif

If I were being cynical I would guess that they don't realise that it is not a country.

Having lived in an African Monarchy and visited most of the countries South of Tanzania, I would say the general development in infrastructure, commerce and industry is comparable and the level of democracy the same (Zimbabwe) or better than Thailand, so there is no need for the Thais to assume superiority. In fact they have a lot to learn from countries like South Africa, Mozambique and Angola in reconciliation between previously warring factions.
