BANGKOK, 11 July 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Fisheries is slated to play host to the “ASEAN Fish Expo 2016” next month.

The ASEAN Fish Expo 2016 will be held between August 4th and August 6th at BITEC Bangna. The event will feature the ASEAN Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016, and 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum and Exhibition.

The event seeks to promote Thai seafood products and related industries, hoping to help small and medium enterprises penetrate new markets outside the country.

More than 10,000 entrepreneurs in the fishing industry will take part in the 3-day event. The event is expected to help increase the value of seafood exports by 2 billion baht this year.

The ASEAN Fish Expo 2016 will be co-organized by the Department of Fisheries, the Network of Aquaculture Centers in Asia-Pacific (NACA), the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), and the Intergovernmental Organization for Marketing Information and Technical Advisory Services for Fishery Products in the Asia and Pacific Region (INFOFISH).

Will they have actual fishing crews for sale? Maybe set up an auction....have an on-site Veterinarian on site to clear them before they are taken to the boats....

Fishing and farming are the life line to the country, you all call home. If either industry was to be red carded by USA, EU, or Japan.

Thailand would go into a deep recession; and most of you would be forced to go back to your home countries. Don't think that fishing,

is only about fishermen. Millions of Thai's work in factories, restaurants, supermarkets, and hotels. Maybe even your wives or girlfriends ?

What about tourists ? Would they come here if the seafood was red carded ?

And if you people really cared about the people in this country, you would help the poor Thai kids, Help with food, and education ?

All talk no action.

If the event seeks to promote Thai seafood products and related industries, shouldn't the event be called the “Thailand Fish Expo 2016”?

Instead the event should be promoting ASEAN seafood and related industries. All ASEAN countries should get equal recognition.

But the Prayut government sees Thailand as the self-proclaimed Hub of ASEAN Anything. Hardly a cooperative relationship.
