New UK Prime Minister Likely Good for the Oil, Gas Sector

Featured Replies

The appointment of Theresa May as the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister is likely to be a good development for the UK oil and gas industry, according to her voting record in Parliament

May has historically voted to help the onshore fracking sector, siding against explicitly requiring an environmental permit for hydraulic fracturing activities on January 26, 2015. The House of Commons followed May’s lead on the matter, with 319 voters siding with the new PM while 224 voters sided against her.

On the same day last year, May voted not to ban the exploitation of unconventional petroleum for at least 18 months and not to require a review of the impact of such exploitation on climate change, the environment, the economy, and health and safety be carried out and published. In that vote, the majority of May’s colleagues sided with her views (307) and just 52 voted in favour of the proposed new rules.

Remember what the last UK female PM done for industry in general

Yes wouldn't it be great if she did what Thatcher did and took on the unions that destroyed all the heavy industry that the UK was once famous around the world for. The only base the unions now have is the public sector. The Communists and the Unions are now infighting for control of the Labour party and it will end in its destruction once and for all. May has the chance to make the UK great once again and as there is no opposition to the Tories now she may just do it
