I've had good results using my "Turbo Oven", also called a "Halogen Oven". They usually come with round racks that allow you to place the pizza near the heat source and is does a very credible job...friends have been very surprised with how good they come out.

I haven't tried making my own dough yet but I buy pre-made rounds and crisp them up a bit before applying the toppings.

You need to keep a close eye the first few times, lots of videos showing it on YouTube.

Not at all expensive..Big-C and Tesco have them starting at B1000

I tried to post an image but not allowed. Google "Turbo Oven"

I take it that it is electric?

Where do you buy pre-made rounds?

No need to buy anything pre-made.

Tomatoes, 10bht a bag, just chop up finely, remove any excess liquid.

Mozzarella cheese, Makro sell it frozen & grated in 1Kg packs for 300bht.

Bread flour 32bht/Kg.

That's all you need + topping of choice.

I've bought the pizza rounds at Max Value, Foodland and Villa.

Yes, the "Turbo oven" is electric. The unit in the lid has a halogen lamp and a convection fan that circulate intense heat. I can cook a 1.5kg chicken in an hour. It's an amazingly versatile appliance...I use mine almost every day.

I use a combo convection/microwave oven. Produces fine pizza and bread.

Pizza dough is so ridiculously easy to make yourself that I see no point buying it.

Where did U buy?, brand name?, price?

BigC. Samsung. About 5000B.

My turbo oven is an "Otto", a local Thai brand that sells a large variety of electrical appliances, mostly in Tesco and Big-C. I don't know if they are a manufacturer or just re-brand generic Chinese products. I suspect that is the case because I have seen other units identical to mine under a variety of brand names. That said, no complaints about durability. I've had mine for more than 5 years and use it frequently with never a problem.

A pizza stone is vital for good crust, no?

I use a square of black granite flooring stone. Pre-heat for at least 45 minutes.

Probably not vital but it certainly helps. I've used glass plates, the granite you mention and also round silicone baking trays. They all seem to do well in my oven.

There is a Friendship cookshop right next to the one on Pattaya Tai that sells 2 types of pizza stone & roller slicers on the 2nd fl.

There is also a 2nd hand cooking equipment store on 3rd rd, up Pattaya Tai from beach & turn right onto 3rd & it's a few hundred yds on your right.

I would not advise anyone to buy pre-grated cheese or canned chopped tomatoes (get whole ones)

As stated before the dough is very easy to make & improves from a proofing & a slight stretch.

You can often pre-cook some ingredients yourself such as onions & only add greens/herbs such as rocket & basil after cooking.

Try not to over load your pizza as you'll find that it can get soggy in the middle.

I would not advise anyone to buy pre-grated cheese ..........

I use the pre-grated frozen cheese from Makro. It seems to be identical to the cheese sold in 1Kg blocks or cut to order.

None of it is real Mozzarella, of course, as the real stuff is made from buffalo milk and costs a fortune here.

Buffalo mozzarella comes from buffallo.

Basic mozzeralla come from cows milk with a high protein count.

There are fake cheeses aplenty out there & most commercial pizza operations use this.

It made up from reprocessed old milk, cheese, butter & powdered milks that have been surplus to requirements & mixed with various processed oils.

I have wondered why no expat Italian with an upcountry Thai missus hasn't tried making & selling local buffalo mozzarella.

I understand there's a Belgium chap making local goat's cheese.

The buffalo seems surplus to requirements these days & can't really even be used to extract funds from us for vet fees back in the village.

Stainless shop opposite Tony's 2nd road/Tai has gas ovens. There's a couple more stainless shops in Sukhumvit, west side near BKK hospital and east side somewhere around Klang intersection. I use my BBQ for pizzas, bought at the BBQ store in Thepprasit.
