BANGKOK, 18 July 2016 (NNT) - The Minister of Commerce disclosed that Thailand remains the largest rice exporter to Hong Kong, advising entrepreneurs to expand their customer base and produce new rice products to add value to the products in response to the decrease in rice consumption among the new generation.

Commerce Minister Abhiradee Tantraporn disclosed that during this year’s first four months Thailand remained the largest rice exporter to Hong Kong, with an export ratio of 59.5 percent.

It is expected that by the end of this year, Thailand will export more rice to Hong Kong to a ratio of 60-65 percent, valued at 65-70 percent. This will definitely enable Thailand to reach the export target of 9.5 million tons to Hong Kong, says the Commerce Minister.

No. The target of 9.5 million tons is to ALL international export markets including China, ASEAN, Middle East, Africa, USA, etc. Hong Kong is treated as a separate market from China.

In April 2016 the Commerce Ministry announced plans to increase Thailand's market share in Hong Kong from 57% to 65% in 2016. This will represent a total of no less than 200,000 tons of Thai rice exports to Hong Kong with a further target of 300,000 tons.

Oh for God's sake, another useless piece of information.

It has about as much relevance as saying that Thailand is achieved first place in the competition to export rice to Hicksville in Minnesota, With a video showing two of the residents playing duelling banjos, and shuffling from foot to foot.

This place gets more lame by the day, it's enough to make you grumpy.

I often wondered where Hicksville got its rice from, now I know

So? Is that all they can come up with?
