Watching downloads on A 380.

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if you can watch programs, series or films you have downloaded onto a memory stick on the IFE systems on the above aircraft. They appear to have the appropriate USB socket.

All 380s don't have the same IFE system especially across different airlines. That being said I doubt many have the software to play your video files.

Maybe try taking your George Foreman grill and cooking some sausage to keep you occupied

Not the A380 but numerous other aircraft with up to date IFE, I can play my music and that's about it. I just use the USB ports for charging my ipad now.

Probably not...

Most seats are not private, could be a problem if passengers started to watch porno or other offensive material, Most A380's will have an extensive IFE system pre-loaded with acceptable viewing material which should not cause offence to the other passengers.

But as already stated different airlines will have different systems.

The planes I've been on have only allowed the USB slot to be used for charging, no option to use their IFE system to watch your own content from a flash drive or external hard disk.

You could take your own tablet or notebookand watch whatever you want on it.

The ICE system on Emirates does allow you to play music, photos and videos from a USB stick or drive. I connected my external drive to try it out recently. It did only play a very few of my video files though. Didn't really check which file formats did and did not play.

I have seen some of the IFE's that accept RCA connectors so yes.. it is possible you could watch video from your iPod but I don't think it is very common. As far as Emirates is concerned in my opinion they have the largest collection of movies and TV shows out of any airline negating the need to bring my own entertainment. Just a thought.. I have seen folks hang their tablets off the back of the seat in front and watch movies this way.. maybe you could rig something up.
