Financially troubled South Korean yard Samsung Heavy Industries is on the verge of securing a $2.5bn FLNG deal, Korean local media Yonhap reports.


According to sources, the order has been placed by Italian company Eni and the official contract will be signed around October. Samsung Heavy Industries has been in negotiations with Eni since the first quarter of this year.


The contract is a timely one for the shipyard, who had its restructuring plan rejected by lead creditor Korea Development Bank in May.
