A Dutch man and a Thai woman involved in an alleged assault at a Koh Samui bar have settled their dispute following police mediation, according to the woman's representative.

The representative said both parties were called in by police after the August 29 confrontation at Pookies Bar in Plai Laem. A settlement was successfully reached she said.

Apology and reconciliation

The woman’s representative, who owns Pookies Bar, said the Dutch man admitted wrongdoing and apologised during the mediation process.

She said this brought the matter to a close and that the Dutch man and the woman had since reconciled. According to the representative, they are now on good terms.

The representative also asked media outlets to stop circulating claims that could harm either party or imply that there had been no movement in the case. She said such claims were inaccurate and thanked those who helped the pair resolve the dispute peacefully.

CCTV footage showed confrontation

The dispute stemmed from a confrontation at Pookies Bar on August 29 which was captured by CCTV cameras.

Footage showed the Dutch man repeatedly striking the Thai woman before lifting a metal bar stool. Bystanders stepped in during the incident.

The woman later attended Koh Samui Hospital, where a medical certificate recorded bruising to her left cheekbone. She reported the matter to police and subsequently approached the media, saying at the time that there had been no progress in the case.

No further details of the agreement reached during the police mediation were disclosed by the representative.

Looking at the photo and seeing the weight and size difference and then reading that this loser hit her in the face multiple times I put him in the scumbag category regardless of subsequent reconciliation

Hitting a woman in the face, many times, is the behaviour of a bullying thug.
