“Ga No” coffee brand may be mislead – police say



SISAKET: -- Police in Sisaket province yesterday seized 50 small advertising flags after they were distributed to sale agents to help promote a coffee product.

The small flag with the local coffee brand “Ga No” might be misleading the people into ticking a cross mark in the upcoming charter referendum, police said.

The police were called in to check after manufacturer of a coffee brand “Ga No” held a meeting with 200 sale agents to introduce the coffee product and distribute the small flags to them to help promote it.

The police then sought cooperation from the manufacturer not to distribute the small advertising flags for fear that it could mislead consumers into rejecting the charter or “Say No”.

Meanwhile local authorities began door step campaign to persuade the people to come out to cast their votes on August 7.

In Nakhon Ratchasima, the governor instructed local authorities to knock on the doors of every house urging voters to exercise their rights, and educating them on how to vote.

They also told the people to read the charter before voting.

Another low for the Junta run country of Thailand, how can a coffee promo campaign be interpreted as soliciting a no vote for a referendum is anybody's guess , there's paranoid and paranormal that's the difference, although come to think of it , those Toyota adds do send out a message.................................

I can't imagine how to think how the RTA/Junta would do if it ever faced a real foe on the battlefield, if they're shit scared of public opinion.

Charging two little kids for high jinx is taking things too far, have you noticed that the public opinion popularity of the Junta polls have stopped, if they stopped being such <deleted> to people with different views, and started having dialogue, they wouldn't be seen as nothing but Bullies wanting everything their own way. There's no such thing as compromise in their vocabulary, or agendas.

The high hopes they'd transform the country for the better, and unite it, with a common goal, has long gone, the divide is even greater today than it was 2 years ago.

Most Thai people don't even read a newspaper, so nobody is going to read the charter!

When people want to know about the law they use a lawyer to translate but no one is allowed to help the ordinary Thai understand this legal document so how the hell can this nonsense be allowed to continue.

All local officials will be accompanied by 4-5 soldiers armed with M16s. On the 7th all eligible voters will be collected by army trucks and taken to the various polling stations. After voters have filled in their card, it will be checked on an individual basis to make sure the two yes boxes have been marked. Anyone marking no, tearing their card, refusing to vote will be taken into military custody. That is all you need to know.

I think what they really want to educate people on is putting the X in the correct box.

...sadly...they are right.....

To add to the "confusion / paranoia, our illustrious leader has failed to mention the meaning of 3 in 1 on the packet. It would take a Philidelphia lawyer to interpret that one, in which case Nestle and others might be banned. :-)

All the publicity this story is getting has meant that the entire country has seen these 50 flags, not just a few sales agents. Great advertising for the coffee brand and the 'vote no' movement
