JoneL
Hi! I have been reading about Pattaya and it's beaches. And I ended to choose between these 3 beaches; Kata Beach, Karon beach or Nai harn beach.... Anyway, any idea what beach is the best choise for July? I mean the most save (sheltered) place to swim? I did read that Nai Harn Beach is not good to swim at all in July So maybe that is not for me.... So how is Kata Beach or Karon Beach? Are they more save to swim in July? I don't know about Patong beach... Is that save to swim in July? I just know that Patong is very busy place with plenty of things to do... Chantal
Hi Jonel Unfortunately none of these beaches are suitable for swimming during July. The red flags are out then, very strong rip currents although great for surfing if you are keen.
calibanjr.
Paradise Beach, between Patong and Karon. Long winding dead-end road to medium sized cove. You can rent kayaks, swim, massage, gin khao, just on a very small scale. You can stay in Patong (loud, but cheap) or Karon, (less cheap, a lot quieter). kasi
All those beaches have strong surf in july. A nice place for swimming is Tri Trang beach near Patong. You need to got during high tide as it can be rocky other times Check tide tables on the Phuket Gazette site

Is that sheltered from the waves/more save to swim? Any comments?
Chantal
Sorry, Chalong Bay and Cape Panwa areas are not ideal for swimming all year round.
JoneL
Sorry, Chalong Bay and Cape Panwa areas are not ideal for swimming all year round. Oh... Ok. You mean the waves are too strong even in this (Chalong Bay/Cape Panwa) area?
Sir Burr
Sorry, Chalong Bay and Cape Panwa areas are not ideal for swimming all year round. Oh... Ok. You mean the waves are too strong even in this (Chalong Bay/Cape Panwa) area? No. All the east coast beaches have sand to the high-water mark only. Below this is mud. The mud is the result of offshore tin dredging that was done before Phuket became a tourist destination.

So the water isn't so clear/blue in Cape Panwa/Chalong Bay area? But high-water mark? What is that? I have no idea
markg
You can swim perfectly safely all year round at Ao Yon which is opposite Chalong bay. But there isnt anything there apart from beautiful unspoilt beaches. There are no chairs, or shops, or preeeeeety girls to look at.
