South Korea pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom yesterday and also agreed to provide military equipment as they had in the past with the donation of three ships to the Cambodian navy. These promises were made yesterday at a Defense Ministry meeting between Neang Phat, secretary of state at the Defense Ministry, outgoing South Korean military attaché to Cambodia Colonel Yung Yeong Chang and incoming military attaché Colonel Yoo Beom Gi.

In the meeting, Col. Yoo said he would make an effort to improve bilateral cooperation with the Defense Ministry during his mission in Cambodia. He also added that South Korea would provide military equipment to Cambodia such as military vehicles, but he did not specifically mention what or when it would be provided.

Mr. Phat thanked South Korea, which has helped the Kingdom in many sectors and especially the South Korean government, which allows Cambodian people to work in the country legally for long periods of time. He added that Cambodia was very happy that South Korea had pledged to further strengthen cooperation and said Cambodia would also like to thank South Korea for promising to provide additional military equipment.

Strange, why Cambodia?  Why not another country that can help them in the South China Sea?  Cambodia is blocking the statements of ASEAN on the matter, and is a puppet of China

South Korea does a lot of business in Cambodia especially in the garment industry that could be one reason.

Surely So Korea does this for a reason. Unfortunately just another example of wealthier nations sending arms to poorer nations and raising the possibility of conflict. So. Korea's resources would be better spent on it's own people or health care for rural Cambodia.  Then maybe they are just old ships the So. Korean navy is decommissioning.
