Divorcing From UK

Hi Everyone,

 

Little bit of advice, I want to divorce my Thai husband, we got married over there, I wanted to meet up and do it quickly in Thailand, but he is being difficult and might not even show up.

 

So if i decide to do it from the UK ( I know it wont be valid in Thailand but he can sort that out) do i just use the standard procedure, or will it be more difficult as he is abroad? I have been told horror stories of divorces costing obscene amounts of money in fees in the UK..So i just want to know who has done it, and was it straight forward?

 

i have filled out all the forms etc, just want to check what i am letting myself in for before I send them off!

It's dead easy, you can pop in to any court and get a divorce pack that let's you do it DIY.

Less than a year if you are using 'unreasonable behavior', if I remember correctly.

 

If you are on low income (claiming benefits) you can claim the costs back. (around 250gbp)

A straight forward divorce now costs £550 I believe you can get help with fees if on a low income..
