Hi,

anyone familiar with these high pressure gas cookers? (The one I have just bought actually leaks from the shut off rotary valves on the burner, not a big problem, not enough to catch fire and the leak is directly into the burner feed)

 

If you look at the enclosed photo there are to adjustable points.

1: There are rotary washers that can screw in and out restricting the air mixture into the gas venturi.

2: The other adjustment is via two nuts that can push the gas feed further into the gas chamber or move them further away.

 

I got no instructions with thing so it is all trial and error at the moment. I put the gas feeds well into the chambers as it seemed safer, the air screws don't seem to make much difference in this setting. So I am wondering if anyone has any experience on setting these up correctly?

 

I have to admit it certainly fires up some heat and roars like a jet engine when both burners are on - I imagine it will as apparently it consumes 5KG of LPG per hour! So there is some serious BTU output there (I believe it is way over 180,000 BTU). The centre burner puts out a 2 foot high blue jet of heat that can heat 2 litres of water in a wok in less than a minute.

 

I just want to make sure that I get it set up safely and correctly so any input is greatly appreciated. (My wife won't go near it in the kitchen as she is terrified of the noise and the heat it gives out)

 

Last question, there is a centre copper tube -(You can see the copper tube between the two main burner feeds and has its own off on valve)  Pilot light / igniter gas feed, this looks like a rich gas mix, it is an orange sooty flame used to ignite the main burners, should this be turned off once the main burners are lit or left running? (There is no electronic ignition by the way)

Looks like a dangerous thing to me. And if it really gives flames 2 feet high i wouldn't have it in my house. Also not when it leaks gas, no matter where.

 

Is that valve in the middle connected to a thermocouple? That would be a safetysystem.

 

And what is hig pressure about this burner? Does it need another reducer on the bottle for higher pressure? I always wondered how those burners work, they give great taste to the kao pad.

 

I bought an expensvie kitchenburner with 2 wokburners but they  are far from what i call a real wokburner.  I couldn't test them in the shop and they looked professional but are not. I also noticed that european brands for gasequipment sell lower quality to Thailand.

 

Anyway, make sure no dirt or insects go into the airvalves.  Also make sure the gas will be burned properly and gives a bunssen blue colored flame.

No, there is no thermocouple, in fact the very end of it is a soldered piece of what looks like aluminium, which has just melted and fell off. (It uses a high pressure regulator - which runs the gas at about 35 PSI rather than those little ones that come with the normal gas stoves that are about 3.5 PSI)

Oh i see krab, made in china took maak maak, mai ben rai.

 

I wouldn't even give it away because somebody might burn themselves with it and they will blame you.

 

In fact i have never seen a gasburner without a thermocouple.

 

I would go to the a real store for professional kitchenequipment (they also have huge stores with used stuff) and buy me a real pro good safe wokburner. In BKK they have several of those shops. Safety is important, you don't want your wifes face burned i guess.
