SUPHANBURI: -- Police suspect that a professional team was responsible for a raid on an ATM at a Suphanburi market on Sunday. Some 4.25 million baht was stolen from the machine.

The thieves used crowbars to lever the cartridge containing the money from the machine and disabled and stole its own CCTV and data storage unit, reported Thairath.

But police say they have evidence from other CCTV in the Bang Pla Ma market area that will lead them to a quick arrest.

The machine was targeted in the early hours of Sunday morning when all was quiet in the area and police said the thieves had 30 minutes to do their work. They are thought to have used an Isuzu pick-up but a view of the registration plate was unclear.

However,ne of the faces of two men was captured on CCTV in the area and Suphan cops said this should help them to a quick arrest as they suspect they know the man.

The ATM was dusted for fingerprints and bank staff who had filled the machine in front of the Mae Buay restaurant have been interviewed.

...it looks like the whole machine is gone....

...not anchored in any way......???

It's a blue one but not a TMB ( Thai Military:lol: one ... ) which is darker ..

Crime does not pay.

Is all that black stuff the fingerprinting dusting effort?

Now it is clear that how the Thai police is going to protect the people whereby even an ATM also could go missing.

Now there are professional thieves the force will have to find some professional police officers to catch them.

This is doing things the hard way, the normal way of getting money from an ATM in Thailand is attached.

The BIB can't be wasting their time on trivial matters such as this as they are now flat out trying to find Pokeman and capture him and train him to find criminals like ATM robbers.

So glad whoever wrote the story did NOT refer to it as an, "ATM Machine."

However it would seem some of our members are not aware that ATM stands for, "Automatic Teller Machine."

Thus, an "ATM Machine" would be an, "Automatic Teller Machine Machine."

Just thought I'd mention it.

daring heist. it is not easy to monitor so many machines and some abuse is likely to occur unless an alarm sets off the moment  there is attempt at forced break in. such alarm should signal out to police stations in the area.

Despite the seeming lack of security of many machines, ATM's, also known as BCM's (Bank Cash Machines) or more usually just Cash Machines,  BCD's  (Bank Cash Dispensers) NVM's (Note Vending Machines) etc. heists here are very rare and the police almost inevitably catch the crooks very quickly.

An intrusion alarm is instantly transmitted to the bank and the CCTV cameras usually help.

One problem is that having ripped the basic machine out of its housing with crowbars, it is very difficult to actually get to the Cash, crowbars don't usually do the job, it needs a cutting torch (or  a laser).

I seem to remember not so long a go they caught a guy in a field still trying to get the money out of the vault (cash box) a few days after the heist.
