First Region Army to monitor political undercurrents

The first Region Army Commander called for the regions’ forces to monitor political movements of the undercurrents in their geographical area of responsibility and support the 2007 national agendas set by the government and the Council for National Security (CNS).

Lieutenant General Prayuth Chan-ocha (ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา), the first Region Army Commander, said he had ordered military chiefs under the first Region Army stationed in 26 provinces, to follow the 2007 national agendas set by the government and CNS as well as monitor the undercurrents. The commander affirmed that he was not concerned over them as investigations had found no political movements in all 26 provinces. However, he said the military forces should not take the situation for granted and keep a close watch at them.

Meanwhile, CNS has canceled today’s meeting since Gen.Sonthi Boonyaratglin, CNS Chairman, is in Pakistan as the government’s guest. He will return on November 23 to attend a meeting held by the Defense Ministry.

The 1st Region Army Commander indicates that the undercurrent situation is still normal

The 1st Region Army Commander, Lieutenant General Prayuth Chan-ocha (ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา), said that the underground political movements in 26 central provinces are in a normal state. However, officials have been instructed to closely monitro the situation.

Lt. Gen. Prayuth said that there has been no sign of violence rooted by political gatherings in the central region. Officials have been reminded to observe the political movements, including the rally on December 10th at Sanam Luang (สนามหลวง) Park, to prevent possible chaos caused by the third party.

The 1st Region Army Commander, however, believes that the majority of people understand the government and the Council for National Security's (CNS) good intentions to dissolve the national conflicts. As a result, he has requested time for the authority to tackle the national problems.
