Mental health expert says playing Pokemon Go increase stress levels

BANGKOK, 9 August 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Mental Health has recommended that Pokemon Go players not spend more than an hour a day on the game, as it may result in higher stress levels.

Deputy Director of the Mental Health Department Panpimol Wipulakorn also noted that accidents may occur if people pay too much attention to playing Pokemon Go. While the hit mobile game can be enjoyable, prolonged gaming can expose players to health risks and eye strain.

Dr. Panpimol has urged parents to ensure that their children do not spend too much time playing the game. She said children should be introduced to other meaningful activities and that once children become obsessed with gaming, they may start developing mood swings and dishonest behavior.

Meanwhile, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen also warned people to be extra cautious when playing Pokemom Go. Anyone found to be using their mobile phones while driving or even at a red light can receive a maximum fine of 1,000 baht.

so very asinine, some petty academic riding the pokemon wave to get noticed.

given its been live in Thailand for only a few days he doesn't have enough empirical data to any sort of remark whatsoever regarding the game.

So funny that after a comment in the article about 'dishonest behaviour' there is immediate mention of a spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police. How appropriate is that! Brilliant linkage!

It should hold their attention about as long as the Look Thep doll!

Even the PM has weighed in on Pokemon Go. One would have thought he had more pressing issue but he does like to oversee all of society.

I know nothing about this game but did see a few dozen people, a few minutes ago, in Siam Square 1 Mall traipsing about with the app. open. One guy tripped and fell as he didn't see a step. I guess there must be a 'whatever' there?

hahahahahahahahahahahaha . . . . empirical data.  Oh man, that's a good one.  Facts are like kryptonite for Thai officials.

Yes, get fined for checking your phone at a red light. But ignore the hundreds of real traffic violations like motorcycles driving against traffic, on sidewalks, jumping green lights.

Dont speak the truth youll get edited out.

Open UTube and do a search for, 'pokemon go accidents.'

Just scanning the long lists of horrific accidents, and video images, stressed me out.

Parents need to see the end game of all this nonsense and warn their children and friends.

Intensive care, rehabilitation medical bills and loss of income will send the stress levels over the top.  :coffee1:

But she's a doctor so practically a god here.

Actually this is so far off the pace it is crawling , on this mornings breakfast show ABC a guy was saying that Pokémon Go lowers stress and promotes thinking , the stress comes from Facebook and putting up with B/S from the Thai Junta..........................................:coffee1:

It's not the game, it's just senseless people.  If there is a pokemon in reach of you, you get a notification by your phone vibrating.

I caught 2 Pokemon 30 mins ago. What a time to be alive. :D

And it does. Thanks for that.

Zero posts since July 2010, and a lonely advertisement from Benny Weensteen who owns the blog. A miracle. If you can't make a blog about psychotherapy in Thailand, where the incidence of mental health issues among expats is huge (imho), then you should stay far away from making blogs. Must be even harder to make a living out psychotherapy, what with the language issue and all...

Be better off playing Pokemon...
