DMP Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman advises on what to do during active hostage situations

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman has pointed out some dos and don’ts in case of a terrorist attack like that in a Gulshan restaurant.

“The first thing a hostage should avoid is making direct eye contacts with the hostage-takers,” he said replying to a question at Bangla tribune Info Show held Monday night.

“A hostage must not engage in a heated argument with the hostage-takers but follow their directions as much as possible. It is best not to make eye contacts when speaking to the attackers,” said the deputy commissioner.

This translates to: its always best to look away as they are cutting your throat!

This does not look very useful advice to me, has anybody got some better advice for this all to often happening now. Not that any advice would have been much use in Dhaka as the attackers were determine to kill as many people as possible and die.

Very interesting.

So are they saying its best NOT to provoke someone with a gun pointed at you?

As Dhaka is in Bangladesh, and this is Thailand, not Thailand related and now closed.
