Food coloring found in shrimp paste in Pathum Thani

PATHUM THANI, 12 August 2016 (NNT) - The Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) is investigating a case where artificial food coloring has been found in shrimp paste products in Pathum Thani.

CPPD Sub-division 4 Chief Police Major Surachet Dechapan disclosed that four out of five samples of shrimp paste tested by the Medical Science Department contained artificial colors. The CPPD will launch a surreptitious investigation to identify manufacturers of these products.

The Public Health Provincial Office of Phathum Thani will file legal charges against the wrongdoers as food coloring is prohibited by the Food Act, B.E. 2522. People have been advised to buy shrimp paste from reliable stores and to consume it at a moderate amount.
