Four die in Greek boat collision near the island of Aegina close to Athens

ATHENS: -- Four people have been killed and at least five injured after pleasure boat with 20 people on board collided with a speedboat near the Greek island of Aegina, close to Athens.

 

A nine-year-old girl, the captain of the pleasure boat and two male passengers died in the accident.

 

The Greek coastguard say twenty-one people have been rescued, most of them Greek nationals.

 

The five injured have been transfered to a hospital in Athens where two are said to be in a serious condition.

 

The circumstances behind the accident are unknown, but local media report that the speedboat rammed the tourist boat and the captain has been arrested.
