Teen Charged over Nude Photo Blackmail

Featured Replies

One year after San Song Heang broke up with his girlfriend of two years, he started posting compromising photos and videos of the then 14-year-old to his multiple Facebook accounts, demanding money to take them down, police allege. The unemployed 19-year-old was arrested on Thursday in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district and charged on Saturday at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court under article 232 of the Criminal Code with “threat accompanied by extortion,” court clerk Sok Kimseng told Khmer Times.

“The investigating judge now has sent him to temporary detention for further investigation before the trial. If found guilty, he shall be punished with imprisonment from six months to two years,” he said, adding that Mr. Song Heang faced a further charge of posting nude photos to Facebook. Major Sok Pon, an officer in the Interior Ministry’s anti-crime technology department, said the arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged that multiple nude photographs and videos of the couple had been uploaded to some 11 different Facebook accounts he controlled, with money being demanded for their removal.

“To delete the victim’s nude photos from the Facebook accounts, he ordered her to send him money by Wing Transfer Shop or True Money,” he said. “After she sent him the money, he removed the photos from Facebook. But later he reposted them, threatening and asking for money from her again,” he said.
