Hello everybody,

My american company is sending me to Thailand for two years, starting january 12th.

They already got me a 3 months visa B.

I was told I'd need to ask for a 1 year extention when I get to thailand, but I was also told I'd need a work permit to get the 1 year extention.

Here's the problem: My company isn't paying me to work in Thailand, they are paying me to study to possibilities for them to open a branch in Bangkok. I wont actually make money in Thailand. My company is paying me every month on my american bank account.

Do I still need a work permit ? If so: how can I get it ? What should I tell the immigration guys in Bangkok ?

My girlfriend is in the same situation as me, as she also works for the same american company, and will also be settling in bangkok thailand

:o many thanks for your help, it's very valuable for me!
