An elderly Cambodian woman was found dead on a sugarcane plantation in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province yesterday, according to Battambang provincial police. Police named the woman as 70-year-old Noem Sem from Battambang, who was working at a sugarcane plantation in Aranyaprathet district. 
 

Her body was found naked and swollen and Thai police estimated she had been dead for about three to four days before being found. Pum Chan, the deputy police chief in Battambang province, confirmed the woman was from Battambang province and said her body was discovered by Thai police following a report from the plantation owner.
 

“The Thai police found her body in a sugarcane plantation. The body was found lying naked.  The sugarcane plantation owner found the body about three to four days after she died,” he said. The deputy police chief could not give a reason for the elderly woman’s death.
