Over 40 million passengers visited Suvarnabhumi Airport this year

  

BANGKOK, 26 August 2016 (NNT) – Passenger count at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport has exceeded the 40 million mark during the past 10 months, with development projects planned to enhance service capacity, says AOT. 

Airports of Thailand (AOT) President Nitinai Sirismatthakarn has disclosed that passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport, during October 2015 to July 2016, was over 40 million persons, marking a 5.73 percent increase comparing to the same period last year. 

He said the increasing number of passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport has encouraged AOT to accelerate its airport development projects to further accommodate passengers from all over the world. 

From this latest figure, passengers using Suvarnabhumi Airport for international flights was recorded at 30 million persons, while 7 million were boarding domestic flights. The airport has facilitated some 300,000 flights, 200,000 of which are international flights and 60,000 are domestic flights.

You have the air link to BKK busses to Pattaya and cheap taxis, the new taxi system makes it quicker to get a car. I know most people think 600 Baht taxi fare from airport to BKK is a lot, keep in mind that it's a large international city and compare to other large cities it's quite reasonable.

40 million x the visa fees, tax, not to mention the burden on the airport/country infrastructure.  Such boasting of tourist numbers is to put it mildly is unbelievable.  Boosting numbers,  offers up no comfort.  Consider this, the population of Thailand is 67 million.

Decent airports have trainsstations inside. That airlink is very bad designed, can't use it.

 

Taxi's need 100 for tollway, 100 for airport, meterprice, tip....it all adds up and you still sit in a very crappy taxi with a driver who can't speak english.

Your headline is incorrect. This is from October last year until July this year so the figure for passenger numbers so far this year is more like 28 Million.

Whether it's for a calendar year, 10 months, or YTD, it's still an impressive number.

The numbers don't add up. Do some basic math and besides the 3 million missing passengers, you will see that international flights are only carrying an average of 150 passengers per flight. Anytime the Thai Government uses numbers, they are telling lies.

As you read this 20 million of the 39 are :

1.  Cutting in line somewhere 

2. Yelling at each other in the airports 

3. Manhandling a food buffet 

4.  Smoking in a non smoking area

5.  Blocking a walkway . 

Its the new middle class with no class.

It's not the cost of it so much as the time and the likelihood of ending up in a jam: zoom along the tollway @ 140 and then crawl the last 5K @ 10kph. 

The train is a joke really because even if you get it, it's impossible to take large luggage on the BTS because of the absence of lifts: even the tube in London is more accessible
