Police seize 1.5 million yaa baa tablets from a car in Chumporn

BANGKOK: -- Anti-narcotic police seized 1.5 million tablets of methamphetamine and six kilogrammes of Ice and arrested six alleged drug traffickers, including a 61-year old ringleader, at a road checkpoint in Chumporn province over the weekend.

The alleged ringleader was identified by police as Mrs Punika Seesodsai.

Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, the deputy national police, told a press conference at the Office of the Anti-Narcotics that the latest drug seizure was a followup of an earlier dug bust in Tha Sae district of Chumporn.

He said police found out that the gang opened a hotel room in Cha-am in Petchaburi to store the drugs smuggled in from a neighbouring country for delivery to southern provinces.

Police kept a close surveillance on the gang’s movement until they started moving the stored drug by car for delivery to its customers further southward. They trailed the gang to Chumporn where they made the arrest at a road checkpoint.

Pol Gen Pongsapat said Mrs Punika had been placed in police watchlist as an alleged major drug trafficker for several years before they finally arrested her.

Good on them for the eventual arrest, but one has to wonder how many lives were ruined in the "several years" that she was a major drug trafficker...

She's been on a watch list for years and only now gets arrested so was she just too smart over this period or who did she know   ?

I think you have to look at the 'watch-listing' in this case as an intelligence gathering move. Certainly I do.

Somebody well above her head has set up a new supply chain giving them a bigger slice than she was paying and now she becomes surplus to requirements....in other words, retired off without pension !

Great photo op and not one single finger point. Job well done but can't help but wonder where the booty will eventually end up.

The officer doing the self praise spruiking on the microphone looks the part in his sterile white gloves.

Maybe the RTP didn't have the manpower to count the pills in her stach...

Sizeable bust, but interesting how they sometimes do great sounding work and then drop the ball at a check point instead of not even one distribution point.
