Hello,

I am going to visit Burma for a visarun May 28th.

But I don't like to sit on a bus for a whole day, so I intend to vist a casino and stay there for the night.

But as I am new to Phuket, I don't know how to find Ranong, go into Burma, find a casino. :D

And next day, how do I come back to Phuket? :o

Any advice? :D

Anyone who know where to go to play poker? :D

Ranong: / Burma

A Visa Run to Ranong from Phuket is cheap & easy.

It takes around 10 hours (round trip) and costs you no more than 1,000 baht.

A minibus takes you to the Thai border @ Ranong. Once your passport has been

stamped a boat will take you to Burma. The boat trip takes around 20 minutes,

you get your passport stamped at Burma and you then come back to Thailand to

receive another 30 day entry visa @ the Thai border.

The visa run is easy to do and everything is organised for you including lunch.

Their will be other people on the mini bus doing the same visa run so it's a great

time to make new friends and share travel stories. There are many companies that offer visa runs in Phuket/Patong, some of them are less reputable than others. They will pick you up from anywhere in Phuket and drop you back off at home again.

With one company you can go to the Andaman Resort casino, get visa and still get back to Phuket in a day

The only casino/hotel in Burma you could easily visit from Phuket is the Andaman Club Andaman Club Website I did exactly what you want to do on my last visa run, but I did all the driving.

Andaman Club do have an office in Phuket so they may be able to help (number on the website).

Its a very painless trip once you get to Ranong everything is very well organized, but it still costs you 500 baht for the Burmese entry stamp. As far as I aware you can only go into the real casino if you are a member or failing that pay a large entrance fee. Me and the wife spent the whole time playing the slots and automated Roulette machines which are downstairs and entrance is not restricted.

Don't expect anything Burmese its all very Thai.

If you need anymore help please PM me.

Is there a consulate available there where you can get a non imm visa B or do people only go there to leave the country every 3 months.

I dont really want to go to Penang anymore as its a dump and I want to take my wife for a few days holiday while I get my visa but dont want to go too far. Any recomendations?

Hotshot, I don't think any visa-run companies use the casino for crossing (too expensive, they get a boat from Ranong town). Andaman Club did do a deal themselves including the MiniVan from Phuket, contact them directly. Alternatively get a bus from Phuket Town to Ranong and get a taxi to the Casino when you get here.

Jimbo, No consulate here only a border crossing (by boat), looks like Penang.

How about KL. Is the embassy difficult there?

KL Embassy is hard, better go for the smaller Consulates. Or travel to Australia, Royal Thai Consulate, Brisbane, for example, if you want to be sure to get a multiple entry "B" or "O".

Search this forum for Brisbane and you will find cheap flights and more info.

Hi George, thanks for the great site and all the usefull info.

Unfortunately I am not able to get an Aussie visa for my wife so thats out of the question. I thought KL might have been nice as I have met a number of expats here in Phuket who did it there and as long as you have all the documents then they said there shouldnt be a problem. Its sure a lot easier if you are in Bangkok because there are more destinations to fly on.
