webfact
Three govt agencies join hands to raise rail system's standards BANGKOK, 7 September 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry signed a working partnership to improve the standards for Thailand's rail system. Transport Minister Arkhom Termphitthayaphaisith presided over the signing of the partnership between the State Railway of Thailand under care of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry. The transport minister said that the partnership is considered a technical cooperation to promote and develop the rail system's standards. Thus, domestic research and tests on safety standards are yet to be carried out as train speed will be increased in line with the government's infrastructure development policy worth more than two trillion baht, he said. Thailand would need a workforce of about 30,000 people to work on the improvement of the rail system from 2017-2021. At present, domestic investment on the rail system only accounts for 20-30 percent, he said. -- nnt 2016-09-

alant
Are these jobs for Thai nationals only?
Khun Paul
yes of course jobs for Thai Nationals work and hour sleep and hour for 8 hours then claim overtime to finish the job. The resulting answes and infrastructure will work JUST , lets uis face it any speed faster than the current train speed will be too fast for most, I can often imagine myself walking faster than the train and at night it slows down even more , as presumably the driver cannot see where he is going . eliotness
Just to wind up my American friends, if the British had been allowed to occupy Thailand after WW2 then a decent rail system would already be in place, built most likely by Indian labourers.
