Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explodes, sets fire to Jeep

It appears to have taken place in Australia judging from the report here: http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/709098/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-7-Explode-Pictures-Damage-Refund-UK-Jeep

A bit worrying though that Samsung is telling its users not to use or charge the device during a flight, or even to store the phone in hold luggage.

I would imagine it could be used in a terrorist attack to bring down an aircraft if it's that vulnerable during a flight.

Afaik Samsung is doing more than that, and asking everyone with a unit to turn it off now and return it.

I was going to get one, but cannot see me buying anything from Samsung in the mobile market for a few years now. This is ridiculous. The Note 7 will always be known as the exploding phone, and Samsung too! A complete re-branding needed now methinks. There again if they were to sell the Note 8 at half the price I might be tempted!

I bet Apple is pleased. Having the Note7 becoming available just a couple of weeks before the iPhone 7 launch could have degraded sales quite dramatically.

But now the iPhone 7 is already in short supply with the Jet Black model sold out and it hasn't even appeared in the shops yet. https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/news/2016/09/jet-black-iphone-7-plus-sold-out-until-november/

How do you put a phone fire out ?  just water or ????

i know if you use water on Magnesium it burns brighter , I hop there are no Mag parts in it !

and since the phones are sealed shut you cannot take the battery out of it :(

Are the fires starting only when charging , or right after when the battery is warm ?

Everyone laughing at this needs to think what would happen if Airlines deide ALL cell phone batteries are suspect and no one can fly with a phone !   How would that change traveling ?

And then there is the BTS.......

This is costing Samsung big money, real big money.

Many airliners have prohibited this phone on their planes.

A 6 year old boy in the US got burned when playing games on a note7 and he is now scared of mobile phones.
