ROME: -- Italy has been rocked by the suicide of Tiziana Cantone.

She was subjected to a tirade of online abuse after a video emerged on the Internet of her performing a sex act on a man.

The 31-year-old shot the footage of herself engaged in the act she then posted the video to her ex-boyfriend to make him jealous.

The footage was posted across social media and Cantone was repeatedly named and humiliated on social platforms.

She succesfully had the video removed from search engines, but the images would not go away.

Antonello Soro is the President of the Italian Data Protection Authority he spoke to euronews about the problems of online abuse:

“I think we should speed up the process of removing a dangerous video or messages from a web site. The authority has the power to block offensive videos removing them quickly from a social platform; the real difficulty is to block them across the whole Internet.

We must invest in digital education, civil digital education; We need to make everybody understand that the digital dimension is a real one, it is reality. That is why we need to invest in education beginning in primary school. Our children should learn how to use the social media and the risks involved on the Internet, just like the way they learn a foreign language.

The Italian authorities, like others are in constant contact with these social platform providers, the situation previously was quite difficult because they failed to recognise our power, the jurisdiction of European authorities.Today I can say we have made some progress. We can’t blame the web for the violence. We should blame the people who use the web without consideration.”

The public prosecutor has opened up an investigation into Miss Cantone’s death.

The woman video'd herself giving oral sex to a guy so that she could send it to her ex-boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend then posted it online.

Why should this be illegal?

She gave him implicit consent to ownership of the video when she voluntarily sent it to him.

Sounds like maybe she was a very emotionally fragile person even before the video went viral.

If you post a vdo of yourself doing a BJ on internet, I think you can only blame yourself.

Remember, everyting posted is there for good, like it or not!

Hmm...blame the web! She was 30+ and should been aware whatshe was doing.
