Flight return from BKK to Savannakhet Laos

Featured Replies

I have been told that there are very cheap flights to Savannakhet from BKK that depart every Tuesday

and return to BKK every Saturday, but I can't find these on any flight web sites.

These flights are very cheap because they don't go around the houses, but definitely direct. I met people

that have travelled this way not so long ago. These flights are only on Tues and Sat.

Any help on locating this would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

I am not 100% sure about this, but I believe the only airline that flies direct from BKK to ZVK is Lao Airlines, and those direct flights are NOT cheap.

Did you check their site ? http://www.laoairlines.com/

From my usual source:

Lao airlines flies on Wednesday and Saturday (QV 224 with an ATR 72).

Depart 15:50h.

Cheap? Everyone has it's own scale.

Depart Wed afternoon, return Sat morning next week about 6000 Baht.

(from Suvarnabhumi)

Personally I find 3000 THB for a 1:30hr flight expensive but that is maybe because there is only 1 Airline flying that route.

Compared to domestic flights it's indeed expensive (Khon Kaen - Suvarnabhumi 1080, booked this week).

But of course there is competition.

Even when there is competition, Lao doesn't even attempt to compete. Check out their prices to Luang Prabang from Bangkok: they make PG look bargain basement and Air Asia almost giveaway!

the explanation MIGHT be that its -of course- the CASINO that MAY (or may have stopped) offer very cheap fare-perhaps also cheap HTL- for real gamblers. Very much the same as flites to Vegas/USA or Atlantic City casino buses etc. And of course flite dates may have changed etc. I vaguely remember there was another NOT LAOairls doing these-no idea if its still in the air or not.

Google for that casino and check any special offers-or, probably more likely to gain result, ask any of the millions of dedicated Sino-Thai hi-stake gamblers in BKK or so. Just as their lower budget brethren have to revert to the PoiPet casinobusues from Lumpeenee pk (200 bt single only).

To add what is probably superfluous for most: of course the casino will see to it that you spend enough to make it worthwhile for them.
