Stop referring to this present government.

Eric, we all know you have imbibed far too heavily of the red KoolAid, to the point that I only try to point out your most blatant errors of fact. But KoolAid is a flat drink that dulls the senses, it certainly doesn't put sparkle to your wit.

About as ironic as a criminal conspiracy calling itself a legitimate government.

Rinse and repeat a couple more times and you'd get an iconic embellishment to it.

Possibly.

But a openly corrupt government owned by a crook whose shit scared to come back looting billions whilst planning getting their hands on 2.2 trillion - hardly a good prospect for the economy. Scamming only works while the troughs full.

Wonder if criminals will still be able to own political parties?

"Scamming only works while the troughs full."

Have to disagree with you on that one. AFAIK there has never been a time when Thailand and Thais were not scammed. It's just that in good times the scamming is richer for the blood suckers. Hence the envy felt by the old guard when the bogeyman presided over one of the richest troughs ever.

The result is the good ol' boys rigging the system so that this abomination will never happen again.

"Wonder if criminals will still be able to own political parties?"

Sure, if they're of the right colour.

If PTP puts forward a Shinawatra family member, or a corrupt crony like Chalerm, do you think that would be acceptable to the Democrats? Who else are they likely to propose? Jatuporn, assuming he still hasn't been jailed?

Its not the PTP. The next winner will be BJT of Newin and the PTP members will move over to that party. CTP could also been an option or keep an eye on Chavalit next year. The Shinwatra's are gone but rest assured more coups are coming in the future.

No PT leaders will work with Ahbisit as it will seen as a betrayal to their followers who have family members, relatives and friends die in the military massacre.

you mean  the terrorist activities that were instigated by thaksin, the killings started by the reds terror brigade and left to do as they please by the police force headed by another thaksin lacky. Seems you still cant accept that it was instigated by the reds on their bosses say so, if their black shirted shooters hadnt been killing people randomly and using the crowds as cover while they took pot shots etc at the army personel  much of it wouldnt have happened. As long as the ptp and reds are run by thaksin, a wanted criminal in Thailand it will never get any better but then money talks with all these hi so's, as long as he is paying them they will do what ever he wants and they will never allow anyone but them to run the country.

If there is a rebellion it will only come from within the ranks of the army. It's happened before though not in Thailand as far as I know, but take countries like Turkey where a revolt took place by senior officers and their followers to return the country to a secular government recently. It didn't succeed for whatever reason and a roundup of every dissident followed no matter what profession they held. Since then Erdogan has taken steps to eliminate practically all forms of opposition.

But if senior officers within the Thai army felt that the current administration was causing more discontent than they felt was appropriate another coup could be on the cards. Maybe that's why prime contracts are being handed out to family and friends in order to dissuade them from taking action which might result in another upset.

Democracy here?

The populace isn't granted the ability to make an informed choice and for most aren't even vaguely aware of the situation at large to be even interested.
