Hello friends,
I am planning to do Mae hong son loop in November 3rd week.  I am an Indian citizen. If I book my flight tickets from Mumbai to Chiang Mai having layover of 4 hours in Bangkok airport. Will I have to get my visa on arrival done in bangkok airport or chiang mai airport?? I will prefer at chiang mai airport, if it is possible.

P.S. admin, sorry for creating new thread, couldn't find related topic, please merge in appropriate thread if necessary.

If your layover in Bangkok is 4 hours, I am nearly sure your flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai will be a domestic flight. If so, you will have no alternative but to clear immigration in Bangkok. There are cases where an airline with rights to fly into Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but no carrying rights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, may stop in Bangkok to let passengers disembark before continuing to Chiang Mai. In that case, you arrive in Chiang Mai on an international flight and clear immigration there. I do not believe that is your situation. If you post your flight number, we can confirm this for certain.

Interesting, had never to deal with VoA. According to the immigration website  there are two booths, well I did only noticed the one before you exit the airport. As you go to the transfer to CNX, I guess the second must be in that area. According to the website, you can do it online as well. They accept Thai bath only, so come prepared, exchange rates at the airport are a joke.

@BritTim, My mumbai to bkk flight will be Pg734 and bkk to cnx pg270..

As I anticipated, PG 270 is a domestic flight. You will need to clear immigration in Bangkok.
