Prayut

Prayut says action might only be taken if picking a new PM dragged on for months

BANGKOK: -- PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday there was "no way" Article 44 of the Interim Charter would be used to dissolve Parliament "unless there was trouble".

Prayut was responding to comments by Deputy Premier Wissanu Krea-ngam, who said the House could face dissolution if it fails to select a premier from lists of candidates drawn up by political parties, but this would not be done by an Article 44 order by the head of the National Council for Peace and Order. The PM said there were other ways to handle such a situation.

Yet again, the all important caveat missing from the headline rendering it patently false. :coffee1:

As ever he'll be reserving the right to act as he sees fit in ' the best interests '  of ... ?

Oh sorry, am I supposed to put ' the country ' in the blank space ?

PM Prayut rejects rumors of plan to invoke Article 44 to dissolve Parliament

BANGKOK, 5 October 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has rejected rumors that he has a plan to invoke Article 44 of the interim charter to dissolve an elected Parliament.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said that Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam had made it clear during this week’s Cabinet meeting that the invocation of Article 44 of the 2014 Provisional Constitution to dissolve the Parliament is an option when a new prime minister cannot be elected after the next election.

Gen. Prayut said that DPM Wissanu’s explanation was intended as a warning to prevent such a situation arising because a failure to elect a prime minister means a failure to form a government and Thailand would not be able to move forward.

Concerning criticisms of the frequent invocation of Article 44, the PM stated that it was only the case when it was needed.

In addition, PM Prayut said that he is not interested in entrenched criticism of him and people around him, while stating that the justice system is able to prove that everyone has only been doing good deeds.

Meaning that there is a "way."

Prayut confirms rather than take issue with DPM Wissanu that Article 44 is an "option" to dissolve Parliament.

Reminds me of a movie "Now You See Me."

The official do-gooders did only good deeds, with the dirty deeds done dirt cheap cleaned up by the subservient justice system... The government: Doing Good Deeds For You, Indeed

So all he needs to do is drag it out for months. A cunning plan!

No doubt the CDC is currently working on an "Organic" solution that will obviate any need for dissolving!

He's just doing as he's told.

There you have it in a nutshell. The elephant stands at the ready to crush the flea.
