BANGKOK: -- TWO RATCHABURI-BASED soldiers have been arrested for allegedly robbing a gambler of his Bt3 million winnings in the Nikhom Khamsoy district of Mukdahan province.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon, Mukdahan Peace and Order Maintaining Command head Colonel Thaksapol Sirirak said yesterday, adding the suspects' names would be disclosed after they had been handed over to Nikhom Khamsoy police later yesterday.

And where did the gambler get his winnings from?

I thought gambling was illegal in Thailand??

So they were were actual military personnel...

But didn't the original story say he was going to buy rubber, and they stole 2 million baht?

Well sort of, depends who is organising it.

Not in bordering 'no-man' land... with neighbouring countries.

I said in that thread it seemed fishy to me. I guessed drugs but seems it was gambling. The entire story had shady written all over it.

How is it fishy? Seems like an average day in Thailand to me, the only thing missing is the next news article which revises the figure down to 15,000 baht.

Someone didn't want to take the loss,  and knew who to turn to for help, quickly.

Indeed you did.

"Colonel Thaksapol Sirirak said yesterday, adding the suspects' names would be disclosed after they had been handed over to Nikhom Khamsoy police later yesterday."

It seems your prediction is entirely feasible...

Sounds like the soldiers were doing a bit of moonlighting.

Gambler beat the casino or where ever he was gambling.

Quick phone call to soldiers, stop that man get the money back.

That's a lot of money to win at Gwang Chon.

Now let's see if this remains with the BIB or will the military claim jurisdiction ?

Next story will be about how three Soldiers find 10 million Baht that someone has 'lost' and move heaven and earth to find him and return it !

Dash cams, they're good for more than just recording collisions.  Without the dash cam, these 'soldiers' would have gotten away with it. I prefer to call them stick up artists myself.

Probably in Cambodia. At Mukdahan is a Land Border  to Cambodia.

Actually Mukdahan is across the river from Savan Vegas casino in Laos. High rollers are not uncommon there either, and there are some shifty characters hanging around in there these days.

No different at all to the Highwaymen of England centuries ago. "Stand and Deliver!" I wonder if that's also where the BIB learned their tricks, from the history books.

Yes, a safe bet !!
