October 15, 20169 yr Want to buy for occasional DIY use/troubleshooting around the house. Not looking for cheap but reliable/good quality. Are there any brands here to avoid/recommend ? Or better to bring in from US/EU ? Thanks.
October 15, 20169 yr Assume you are referring to a digital multi-meter. The 300 baht (or so) units from Tesco are good for most DIY projects. If you need a good RMS inductive ammeter the price goes up and need to head to Amorn. No need to import unless it just makes you feel better.
October 15, 20169 yr I brought mine from back home (UK), it must be over 20 years old now and still works great...Brand name Durite..
October 20, 20169 yr I have a cheap UNI-T make and a much more expensive Fluke. The Cheaper unit is probably better than the Fluke because it has an extra decimal point thus is probably more accurate at least for measuring low amperage. Both are clamp type.
October 20, 20169 yr I have two Flukes, one is over 30 years old and still cooking! I also have a cheap Chinese clamp type and a cheap analog meter, mostly used for checking capacitors. I would recommend Fluke, but they are not cheap!
