ISOC 4 reveals religious guidelines for Buddhists, Islamists and Christians during mourning period

PATTANI, 17 October 2016 (NNT) - The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 laid down guidelines on how Deep South residents pay tribute to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej according to their religious beliefs.

The issuance of guidelines was to ensure that all religious ceremonies in the restive south are being carried out to honor His Majesty the King in the highest manner. Civil servants and local people, who are Buddhists, have been advised to observe the mourning period by wearing dark-colored clothing.

They can also write condolence messages in books provided at various government places and offer alms to monks as a tribute to the late King.

Muslim residents are encouraged to follow the Sheikhul Islam Office‘s advice during the period by refraining from wearing colorful clothing. Khutbahs, also known as Islamic preaching, will also be held every Friday to commemorate His Majesty the King’s contributions to the country.

Christians should remain in silence and pray to God during a religious ceremony held to commemorate His Majesty’s passing. Exhibitions on the late King’s achievements will also be organized by each religious group for a length of time deemed appropriate.
