Thais nationwide attend funeral rites for Thailand's late King

 

UDON THANI, 19 October 2016 (NNT) - Thai people nationwide continue to attend Buddhist prayer ceremonies held in tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. 

In Udon Thani province, Governor Chayawut Chanthorn led local officials, residents and state enterprise employees participated in the prayer ceremonies held at Wat Bodhi Somphon yesterday to honor the passing of His Majesty. Others in the province have been invited to join daily prayers at 6:30pm for the late King at any temple near their homes. 

In Kamphaeng Phet province prayer ceremonies were held at the royal monastery ‘Wat Ku Yang’ for His Majesty. Presiding over the event were Deputy Governor Kulada Phantia, along with representatives the Provincial Administrative Organization and the provincial branches of the Cultural Office, the Public Relations Department and the National Office of Buddhism. 

In the northern province of Chiang Mai, a merit-making ceremony for the late King was attended by government officials and local residents. Presiding over the ceremony was Deputy Commissioner-General of Provincial Police Region 5 Pol Maj Gen Pulsap Prasertsak and Commander of the 33rd Military Circle Maj Gen Kasemsuk Tasuk. The ceremony will be held every day until October 20th.
