BANGKOK, 23 October 2016 (NNT) - Thais across the country continue to attend various mourning events for the late HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Tribal villagers living in three provinces in upper Thailand, including Phetchabun, Phitsunalrk and Loei, on Saturday joined a mourning ceremony for the revered monarch.

The ceremony, which was conducted in accordance with Hmong rites and in front of the picture of HM King Bhumibol, saw the participation of representatives of all tribes.

At the Chiang Rai Hill Tribes Development Center, members of many tribes also attended a merit-making ceremony for the late king, which was led by related religious leaders.

During the ceremony, several villagers carried photos of the beloved king’s visit to their villages and shed tears as they remained grateful to the late King Bhumibol, who had helped tackle such problems as statelessness, unrest and drugs.

Meanwhile, more than 10,000 residents of Uthai Thani Province took part in a gathering in front of the City Hall to mourn the late monarch as they held a nine-minute silence and sang the royal anthem.

And in Si Saket, residents joined the human formation campaign to create the patterns of a heart, number-nine and white flowers as well as the word “Si Saket” to show their love for the late monarch.
