I have just sent you a Private Mail. Sign in to see it.

That is hardly a surprise.  Maybe that is why Thailand ranks #41 in "ease" of doing business.

In "poor" countries, Unions will never have a chance to be or to get popular.

One good reason is that the fee for joining an union will scare many workers and I don't know any union which is fee free...

I think they are called the red shirts. They used to be a pretty strong union. Masters of militant progressive solidarity ;)

union in Thailand  55555. In this case hotel director can find another 800 person immediately. If they are not fit for doing their job, who cares......

I care

Why are you here then if your so bothered.Enjoying the lo costs.?.

Reminds me of a allegedly a true incidence in China many moons ago where an employee got a group together in a factory and asked for more money or they will go on strike.

The owner came and ask the employee for a meeting outside.

Many of the factory workers came out to see what would happen, they all went quickly back to work when the employee was shot by the police accompanying the owner.

There is a union as such it is called the military.

The Tollpuddle Martyrs started one a couple of centuries ago,and look what happened to those poor Bastards.Thailand is still back in those days when it comes to any thing like Unions or the public grouping together to form any kind of confederacy.

many unions in Thailand.

yeah all the Thai's at my work are in some sort of union. few years back union was demanding an extra 3 months bonus ( up from 3 to 6)  for the employee's.. made em all strike and stuff whilst negotiations happened.

In the end they agreed upon a base bonus of 2 months and up to additional 4 more based on performance review.

Amusingly everyone got an ordinary performance review and nobody got more than an extra month...... so after all the bullshit, the staff got no more than what was originally given !!
