BANGKOK: -- PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday instructed agencies working on development plans for provincial clusters and provinces nationwide to integrate prominent innovation in their clusters so that plans for the next four years are in line with 20-year national strategies.

The instruction was given at a second national meeting to integrate provincial administration policies, chaired by the PM at Government House.

Agencies such as the Interior Ministry were told to adopt key innovations in their areas of responsibility and include them in their plans for the next four years, which will be the first period for the government’s 20-year strategies.

No! and I suspect neither does he.

Had a girl friend in rural Thailand.  She thought it perfectly natural that all the money went to Bangkok while her area suffered with no jobs and no opportunities.  She said the only job that did not involve working in the hot sun was being a teacher.  She left school at a very very young age to support her family. She moved to Bangkok.   Innovation needs to come from places outside of Bangkok and Tokyo.  Innovation comes from opening up to knew ideas and competition, not xenophobia.

Seems like I have heard a similar speech from a prominent leader who wants to build the Silk Road. Ah yes the 20 year national strategies right off the PM's road map to success. All the best laid plans of  mice and men they sometimes go astray.
