BANGKOK: -- Thailand is trying to land a better ranking on the U.S. State Department's anti-human trafficking index. The country is currently on the Tier 2 Watchlist, but hopes to move up to a standard Tier 2 ranking.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon announced yesterday that he will make every effort to get Thailand moved to Tier 2 by next year by increasing anti-human trafficking projects.

Five months ago, Thailand was bumped up to Tier 2 Watchlist from Tier 3. Tier 3 is a pretty low ranking on the anti-trafficking list; Syria, North Korea, Iran and other countries not known for human rights also appear on the index at that ranking.

I can see how allowing the persecution of anyone who highlights any incidents remotely connected with this vile trade will help.

Sorry, but why?

It's that typical mentality of wanting something so bad without realising you can't just have it. You certainly can't have it when you not only didn't do anything to make the situation better, you've actively tried to let the trend continue.

Let's see what Andy Hall thinks.

Given that few arrests were made of the fishing slavers may have something to do with the lack of a better rating.

What's up Toad, won't the State Department accept your brown envelope?

The ultimate indictment of their social philosophy is that, in the unlikely event that they achieve their aim, they will have done so merely to improve their "ranking" and enhance their "image".

Not because they think that such treatment (their treatment) of human beings is immoral.

The moral outlook that underpins such initiatives is alien, as we are alien, to them.

Human trafficking is in more than just the fishery business. Just take a walk down Bangkok's Sukhumvit Road at night.

That lady called Kai who is suspected of selling Thai girls into slavery, she better do some serious prison time.

"Thailand is trying to land a better ranking on the U.S. State Department's anti-human trafficking index."

How ?, by buying points.

I believe it was Einstein who gave a definition of insanity:  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome

Greed is the new crowned King and his consort is Fear. There will be the odd Court Jester thrown in for a bit of humor but its full bloody bore ahead.  Even the rich are starting to tremble as they come to grips with the mega rich who are trying to establish a world wide pecking order.  It reigns here and world wide. The sheeple just get taken along for the ride and massaged at election time. The rest of the time the mega rich just want them to bugger off.

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Once again, they have made it absolutely clear that IMAGE is everything and, as one poster said, the plight of those being trafficked is very much secondary.  Even MRS Kai is being charged mainly it seems with the L.M. offence rather than the more important one of human trafficking.  Of even less importance apparently is the plight of the girls who were imprisoned on trumped up charges by MRS Kai of stealing millions which she just happened to leave laying around,.  These charges were of course acted upon by the police with little or no evidence because the girls concerned were of no account compared to MRS Kai who they appeared to believe was a hi-so LADY.

While the lady Kai  case is expedited, what happens to the cases of Rohingya trafficking? Any news?
