Tripadvisor now own booking.com.  Agoda sometimes has different prices.  It's also worth checking the hotels website.  I've gotten better deals there sometimes after signing up for their member program.  Best to use several to compare prices!

All depends on longevity.  You might save a few pounds / bucks here and there by shopping around but are you in it for the short or long term?

I use Agoda for various visits abroad when it suits me and am also a long-term member of Accor for others.  I've not enough time to describe every eventuality but can only state that loyalty can save you money in the long run.  Also, keep on top of promotions / discounts and booking well ahead.  I've been doing it for years and got it down to a fine art, same as with the airlines.

Therefore, I split my loyalty between Agoda and Accor and save a lot of money on both sites with consistency.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Booking.com is transparent, the headline price is the price you pay and i have rarely been able to find a site that undercuts them.

I had some issues last year and Booking.com called the hotel and got a refund for the reservation we missed.  Stand up service.

I had some issues recently in Serbia.  Booking.com was very responsive.  Luckily, everything worked out OK, but their follow up was spot on.

I believe both Agoda and booking.com are owned by the same company.

That's what all knowing Wiki says

I tried to understand the who owns who of tripadvisor but gave up.

24 different "brand" websites just as a starter.

Reminds me of the multi names of German Unister group now in insolvency proceedings.

I always use booking.com, as its the best deal (after my frequent customer discount). However,  Airasiago.com gives a better deal if you also flying with Airasia.

How does that work if Agoda and Booking.com are supposedly to be owned by the same company? TripAdvisor own both now then?

I have used agoda's app and you can set it to show the 'final' price in that without having to think about the add ons.

Tbh I find agoda beat booking.com on most occasions, even if they're owned by the same lot.
