Respected political scientist Prof Likhit Dhiravegin died of cancer

BANGKOK: -- A famous and respected political scientist, Prof Likhit Dhiravegin, died last night of cancer at Phramongkutklao Hospital. He was 75 years old.

 

Prof Likhit was admitted to the hospital last month.

 

A former vice rector of Thammasat University in 1988 and a fellow of the Royal Institute in 2004, he entered politics in 2001 by joining the New Aspiration Party (NAP) of former prime minister Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh.

 

He was twice elected a party-list MP of the NAP, and served as deputy interior minister of the Chavalit government in 1997.
