KHUNDAN Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I have a friend who has told me that there is such a thing as having a work permit pre approved prior to arriving in Thailand..I myself have never heard of such a thing, but who knows??If so what forms do you use? I guess if you were already considered hored for a company and accepted then maybe the company could do all the paperwork and have your work permit in hand upon you landing into the land of smiles but I can not see this happening as you would have your passport and not the company in advance... Dont know just asking...
Briggsy Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Is your friend referring to employees of large companies with BOI privileges? They are subject to some different regulations.

I'm afraid I don't know the ins and outs but a couple of things that spring to mind include visa extensions that are longer than a year. I didn't believe it till I saw it. Instant multiple entry re-entry permits. Also the office is on Ratchada not Suan Phlu. I think gaining permanent residency becomes easier too. Obviously these big firms want their expats to start work immediately and be legal. I'm not an expert and you need to check with the lawyers and relevant authorities.

Dont know just asking... It is called a WP3. Our professional fee is 3,900 Baht and the government fee is 100 Baht. From the foreign applicant, just need a copy of their passport and resume. The other doc's come from the employer. The work permit itself would be obtained in three business days of arriving in Thailand (just need your medical certificate and photos) This professional fee is 6,500 Baht and the government fee is 750 Baht. You need a Thai company or a natural person to sponsor you. The natural person must of paid 50K in taxes in a calendar year or the latest three months on a pro-rata basis. Another option if they did not pay enough in taxes is to have 4 Thai employees or the third option is to have done 700K in gross sales last year. ( Only 25k in taxes per yr or 2 Thai employees or 350K in gross income for the year, is required by the natural person sponsor if the wp3 applicant is married to a Thai.) www.sunbeltasiagroup.com
