Tomorrow, Dec 5 should a national holiday, commemorating King Rama the 9 day of birth. I wonder: 1.Is there any change, since there is a new king now. 2. Will it be commemorated/celebrated differently this year? 3. Any advice for foreigners how to behave?  

The holiday is still occurring for this year...but obviously it's no longer celebrating a birth.

 Wear yellow or black?

 

Just contemplating this today.

 

I'm assuming two observed dates may be adjusted sometime soon to reflect that of the newest King of Thailand:  

 

Coronation Day

H.M. King's Birthday

(Father's Day may stay Dec 5, or the government may change it to continue to coincide)

 

H.M. Queen's Birthday

(Mother's Day may stay August 12, or the government may change if H.M. marries and there is a new Queen.)

My daughters tell me the Fathers Day part is no more, but they're probably getting out of buying me a present!

Yes , my son and his girlfriend are both off work as their offices are closed , ,the good news is he is taking me and his mum out for lunch .
