Border Run?

Featured Replies

I have an Israeli passport which was used for staying in Thailand for the last 6 months. I entered Thailand (Jun1) with a single entry tourist visa and exteded it twice. I entered Thailand on Sep2, with a single entry tourist visa, and extended it twice. I'm in North Thailand - do I have an option to go to a close border - perhaps the western border with laos, cross and reenter, then extend it in immigration for a total of 45 days?

You could try for a 15 day Visa Exempt Entry at the Chiang Khong crossing to Laos.

Not sure how you've extended a SETV twice. If you've a recent history of visa exempt entries you would be better off applying for a SETV in Laos rather than trying for another visa exempt entry.

I simply extended it in the immigration office. Frist extension - 30 days, second for 7 days. I did so twice.

The 7 days was not an extension.

It was 7 days to get your affairs sorted and leave the country.

Amm...

So let me ask you about a second option - I have a second passport. Can I fly out  to a different country enter on my UK passport, wait there for 2-3 hours and fly back to Thailand and enter with my UK passport?

You could swap passports if you travel by air.

I suggest you don't fly to Laos since there have been reports of them checking for Thai departure stamp in the passport being used for entry.

Not sure if the airline will let you board a flight to Malaysia. You might be able to show your UK passport at check in to prove you can enter Malaysia without a visa,

Usually possible. Sometimes they deny but mostly ok, due to that they in my knowledge not have any check between different countries passports.

Regarding the SETV at Lao border can anyone advise me of a cheapish flight from U-tapoa/Vienteine & is it an easy way of getting a new SETV instead of the long trek by bus from Pattaya.

Thank you

Air Asia has flights to Udon Thani from Utapao. You can take a van from the airport in Udon to the bridge in Nong Khai.
