Earliest retirement extension date

Featured Replies

Hi

Apologies if this has been asked before, but can someone tell me the earliest I can renew my extension based on retirement, assuming my 800K has met the 90 day requirement.

Many thanks

You can apply for it up to 30 days before it ends. Some offices allow 45 days.

Yes, and there is no negative consequence to apply early because the new annual extension starts beginning from the date of the current extension's expiration regardless.

The requirement is 3 calendar months, not 90 days.

Can you tell me if Chiang Mai is 30 or 45 days prior?

And the date to go by is the permission to stay date?

Thirty days in CM.

You can do it 30 days before your permit to stay date. The money will have to be in the bank for 3 months on the date your apply.

I have seen posts stating 30 days so erred to that number.

It has been 45 days in Chiang Mai for at least a year and probably as long as two. They have a monitor at the immigration office giving information about different immigration subjects, including officially stating 45 days as the earliest you can get an extension.

On a more practical note my retirement extension expired on 18th of November 2016 and I extended it on 12th of October.

in Ayutthaya last year I renewed my extension about 5 weeks before the expiry date...I'm not sure what their policy is but I explained that I had to go back to work in saudi and they were amenable...

they were such nice folks and I was dismayed and alarmed when somebody said that they now wanted MFA verification for the US embassy income affidavit signature...

this month I'm off to the new IO in Suphanburi for extension renewal to see what they got...

My date is March 12, 2017. I'll see if CM takes it 45 days in advance.

I won't be using money in the bank just a statement from CM US Consulate. I do have statements from pension people to back up what I claim.

There is a possibility I will return to the US in January or February for other reasons. If so I'd likely just get a new Non-O-A visa.

Is CW 30 or 45 days?

45.

Thanks. I hate to make that trip only to be turned away. And I'm assuming these are calendar days, not working days (which would equate to something like 4 months given the nature of Thai Holidays).

Yes, 45 calendar days. Count the day your current permit to stay ends as day 1 of the 45.
