dddave
I'm trying to upgrade my diet and have read many times that brown rice is a much healthier alternative to white rice. I went to my local supermarket today and visited the rice aisle; confusion ensued. I was expecting brown rice to be a fairly dark brown but what was labeled as "Jasmine Brown Rice" seemed just a few shades darker than regular white rice...barely beige in color. There was also "Black Rice" which looked more dark brown than black but was more along the lines of what I was expecting as well as "Red Rice" which looked reddish brown. Which one is the one I am likely looking for? How are the others generally used? I have seen sweetened black rice packed into bamboo tubes and baked as a sticky treat but never red rice. Oxx
It's not the colour that matters, but the fibre content. Jasberry rice is the one that many people here consider the healthiest. Allegedly high in antioxidants and fibre.
