Video: Acceptable police behavior or not? Thai cop making peace signs slammed

BANGKOK: -- A highway cop at a police stop prancing around making "peace gestures" was just following orders.

The cop - on the Chonburi motorway - had chased down a Chinese tour bus for going in the wrong lane after overtaking.

After he gets off his motorcycle to confront the angry driver he makes the cute gestures usually associated with Asians and photographs. It was all caught on video and posted online.

Thais online said it was not behavior befitting a policeman.

But the force disagreed telling Thai Rath online the officer involved was just trying to defuse the situation and was acting on orders from on high.

A spokesman said that the clip was taken from inside the bus back in September and they had no idea why it had taken months for it to surface.

Now they want to talk to the poster to see if there was malicious intent involved in making the clip public and making the force look silly.

Some months back the chief of police in Bangkok had also advocated using hand gestures in potentially explosive situations.

I could think of a few appropriate "hand gestures"!

I'll let you into a little secret, netizens - they're doing things a lot worse than peace signs. Get angry over the corruption and don't accept it as a way of life.

It wasn't the poster who made the police look silly!

I don't see two "PEACE" signs.

I see a request for 400 Baht from plod  . . .

maybe they could try peace signs at the UFO temple.

Netizens have very sheltered life, if THIS is, what gets them going!

Peace sign or Shot. Your choice.

personally if the Coach driver was in the worng, then he should be spoken tooi outside the bus and then the situation would automatically be diffused. But then that is logical. Something not on Police training curriculum.

When they dont do their jobs, get complains. when they do their jobs, get complains.

i think BIB was taking the pixx

" Now they want to talk to the poster to see if there was malicious intent involved in making the clip public and making the force look silly. " I don't think they need any help from anyone to look silly, they can manage quite well on their own!

Off topic posts about the police in the US have been removed as well as the replies.

with every chinese camera and phone on the bus pointing at him he did the right thing by posing for the tourists... they will go home with a more positive attitude of the rtp than had he not posed..

The angry driver asked his name several times but he didn't give it...that would be my objection.

I would suggest that the RTP install GoPro cameras on their helmets so that they can have evidence of the traffic offences so there can be no disputes.

It can also serve as deterrent to corruption to prevent the cops from collecting bribes.

Every cop is required to maintain the equipment to ensure it is in working condition as to ensure no tampering of evidence.

Much ado about nothing.  Peace!

Balaclava RTP are little different to balaclava crims. What are they hiding except their identification?

Progressively the RTP are digging their own graves and the military is taking over the policing role. It may take some time but it has already started to happen.

Erm, is it?

Buffoons and <deleted> dont need a warrant card

The brown idiots do not need help to make them look silly. Or stupid. Or idiotic. They're doing a damned good job of it on their own.

I hate dippy himbos and dippy bimbos, always trying to look cute and jostling to photo bomb. :passifier:

Anyone else notice that when cutey-pie took his helmet off, he didn't unclip the safety strap first. Meaning .... oh no, naughty man, you rode your bike without your helmet properly secured, didn't you! Gosh, whatever antisocial behaviour will our BIBs get up to next? Honestly ... !

All balaclava's should be made illegal to wear in Thailand. At sukhumvit the motocy taxi's wear it even in the shade, gardeners in the most expensive estate-compounds, it's like a whole country full of bankrobbers.
