Thailand and Hungary to enhance bilateral cooperation

BANGKOK, 9 December 2016 (NNT) – Thailand will cooperate with Hungary in bid to create a strategic alliance as a gateway to Europe and ASEAN.

Science and Technology Minister Phichet Durongkhaweroj met with Hungarian Trade and Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto to discuss bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Hungary in Vienna, Austria.

He said that Thailand and Hungary have agreed to develop the bilateral relations to elevate cooperation to a strategic alliance with Hungary becoming Thailand’s gateway to Central and Eastern Europe and Thailand becoming Hungary’s gateway to the ASEAN bloc, especially Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV).

In addition, Hungary is ready to annually grant 40 scholarships for research in the field of agricultural science, biotechnology, energy and environment, said the science and technology minister.

He added that Hungary will sign an agreement with Thailand in March 2017 to allow the first batch of Thai students to study in Hungary in September 2017.

Can someone explain to me why it is when two countries have these high level meetings causing a press release that uses really big important monolithic words and terms, that the meeting is never held in either of the two countries?

Big important Thai official agrees to a really important meeting in Brazil with big important Lao official.
