BANGKOK: -- LOW-COST airlines are rolling out special campaigns to catch bookings for the current high season and the coming year. Thai Vietjet yesterday launched a major promotion for 50,000 air tickets priced from zero, running from tomorrow to Saturday.

The offer applies to Vietjet routes connecting Thailand and Vietnam – Bangkok to Ho Chi Mint City, Hanoi and Hai Phong – for travel between February 1 and October 29 next year.

Vice president Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said the activity was part of its Sky Connection Bangkok and Vietnam 2017 campaign, which aimed to promote travel between Thailand and Vietnam during the coming year.

To be honest I think the price of the low cost airlines are very reasonable between Bangkok and HCMC. I use the route all the time.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh can dress it up how he likes, fact is prices on the Vietnam routes are a bargain mainly because there is intense competition between AirAsia, ThaiLionAir, VietJet, NokAir and JetStar on the same routes. Take advantage while you can, there will inevitably be a shakeout, prices are not sustainable over the medium and long term.

what about Thai airways? any plans of reducing fares and get more on their planes then of rest of the third carriers carrying in and out o thailand? TG fares are so high. Its time they lower fares and at least fill up their aircraft.

" airlines are rolling out special campaigns to catch bookings for the current high season  " - well that is an interesting definition of "High" Season.
